Funny, the contrast between "$alliance seemed to use $exploit" and the vehement "I was IN $alliance and never saw any $exploit!" - the latter being, of course, true, because nobody wanted to see it. For as much as any given alliance talked about not tolerating cheating, popular and/or useful people were given the benefit of more doubt than could really be said to exist, more often than not.

Catching a multi in your own alliance, reporting it up the chain, and then getting summarily told to fuck off because they're so very sorry and won't do it again (and also too useful to risk losing) is an unpleasant experience.

Add this to the list of many things that may have helped implode it, I guess.
